Personality;
Pete holds a cold and callous heart beneath a flippant exterior. He is willing to accept that the ends justify the means, but only so long as he is the only casualty of them. His emotions have softened some due to his exposure to being a Horseman, but his loyalty to the crown and those whom are loyal to him has only grown more resolute. While Wisdom is an idealist at his very core, he is a pragmatist by nature.

(History):

Security Clearance Required.

Peter Wisdom was born to Angela and Harrold Wisdom in 1965. Raised in the rough parts of London, Pete grew up a hard kid. In his youth, he constantly endeavored to do the right thing so as to not draw his fathers ire. It didn’t work. By the time he was 13, he’d given up. Living on the streets almost as often as he lived at home, avoiding his police officer father like the plague. While they doted on Romany, Peter’s brother, they seemed to loathe Pete. Especially when his powers began to manifest. Perhaps in spite of that Pete blew through school on the merits of a genius level intellect. His keen mind had a seemingly unnatural knack for languages, math, puzzles, and ciphers.

When he finished school in 1983, he got snapped up almost instantly by MI-5. Pete spent a year working for them. Employing his already considerable code-breaking knowledge for UK security. After which he was shifted over to MI-6, at the tender young age of 19. That’s where he rose rapidly to prominence. Going through field training, martial arts, marksman ship. Pete Wisdom was a determined man, and he was determined to be one of the best, and to be better then his arch-rival… the fictional character of James Bond. Pete spent 3 years in the time of MI-6. Between the skills he had learned, and slow development of his mutant powers, he was rapidly becoming heralded as one of the best agents to come through the ranks of MI-6 since WW2. He was awarded the Victoria Cross for thwarting an assassination attempt on the Queen sometime between 1988 and 2000.

Then he got transferred. To Black Aire in 1986. In the days before S.H.I.E.L.D. or S.T.R.I.K.E., Black Aire was the United Kingdom’s answer to threats both occult, extraterrestrial, and so on. A dark organization that silenced things through violence and cover ups. It was here that Pete Wisdom was transformed from just a snarky asshole into a cold blooded cynic; who wrapped himself in layer after layer of spite for the world. He honed his mutant powers, he honed his mind and his body into a weapon. Most importantly he killed. He killed so much and so frequently than was simply cold blooded to the act. On UK soil and abroad, Pete Wisdom was a cutting figure in the espionage world. One that boded ill, most of the time. His Black Aire masters sent him on slash-and-burn missions, the death toll on his soul rose. He did what needed to be done for God, Queen, and Country. His time in Black Aire was when he picked up smoking, after his fourth year in service. A method of coping with stress. Wisdom spent  years as Black Aire’s premiere agent. His lists of missions was massive, he’s been in just about every country around the globe, had encounters with a lot of other agencies members. During this time he established some lasting connections to other Agents across the world, from Nicholas Fury and Bobbi Morse of the United States to Natasha Romanov of the then Communist Russia.

Wisdom left Black Aire, in 2004, when he was unable to stomach the missions any longer. He made use of his old association with Nicholas Fury, MI-5, MI-6, to get himself a position in STRIKE. His record sealed, Peter Wisdom was welcomed into S.T.R.I.K.E.. Initially as an Agent, he rose to slightly higher stature of Regional Command in London. Which eventually lead to his being assigned to the prominent position as the ‘Handler’ for Europe’s first meta-human team, Excalibur on Muir Island. Occasional missions took Wisdom off the Island, but he was generally around for the bulk of Muir and Excalibur’s history during the next two and a half years.

While on a Mission for STRIKE in 2008, Pete Wisdom encountered the Horseman of Apocalypse known as Pestilence. She was able to warp Wisdom’s sense of duty to Great Britain, twisting his arm to betray Excalibur in exchange for Britain being left virtually unharmed in the coming of Apocalypse. Though completely unwilling this deal damned Pete to becoming a reluctant Horseman of Apocalypse as well. On orders from the Horseman Leader (War), Wisdom infiltrated Muir and instigated it’s complete annihilation. This would eventually play out as a crippling tactic that has allowed Mikhail Rasputin to turn Russia in to Country-wide Prison Camp for mutants, because there was no Excalibur team to oppose them at all.

During the year following his betrayal, Wisdom worked as a Horseman across the world with Excalibur tasked to bringing him to justice. He remained one step ahead of them, mainly due to knowing their methods, procedures and personel. Eventually though, Pete’s own personality began to fight back against the personality of Famine, having witnessed that his deal with Pestilence was only a stop-gap before eventually Apocalypse’s madness would spread world wide. This lead to Excalibur eventually catching up to him in Scotland. As a testament to his willpower the battle with Famine was a short but violent one, ending with his capture. Much to Moira MacTaggart’s chagrin, however, Pete Wisdom was immediately taken in to custody by STRIKE.

When Wisdom emerged from whatever dark hole that STRIKE had kept him in he was boasting a renewed rank and vigor. Cleared for active duty again, Wisdom was still not trusted enough for a field command. So he was saddled with the nebulous rank of ‘Special Agent in Charge’, then loaned to various offices. His work initially involved MI-6, STRIKE, SWORD, SHIELD, and even CIA. However he held no -real- distinctive rank with any of them. That suited him just fine, as it also allowed him to throw his weight and reputation around where ever he went, but Wisdom’s life has been a constant evolution and this was no difference.

Peter soon found himself with an assignment that would change his life for ever. A woman, Barbara Morse, that he had worked with briefly in the past approached him. Like Peter, she had been around the block more than once. Like him, she was trying to recover her life from the turmoil it had endured over the last several years. More importantly she was working to rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D. from the Ashes of her own personal secret war. Her offer was a simple one, if anything can be simple where Bobbi Morse is involve. Peter was offered the opportunity to study a set of files left behind by Nicholas Fury after he died. The files were a series of cases, studies and tactical information that involved nearly every meta-human Nick Fury’s agency had ever encountered.

Not since he was a boy, in school, had Wisdom been so happy with his job. Her before him was a grand puzzle, one that he could apply all of his skills too. Taking the assignment, Wisdom became a ‘Special Agent’ of S.H.I.E.L.D. on detached assignment from S.T.R.I.K.E. and for the first time in his life moved to America. Over the course of the next two years, Peter parlayed the information in the “Fury Files” to build many bridges, burn several others. His goal became using the files to create the Heroes of Tomorrow… today through any means necessary. He used the information to pick at people’s weakness, to build them up or tear them down, depending on the situation. In the end he Peter build a reputation as a Hero Maker, but an equal reputation for being a Blackmailing Bastard.

By the year 2010, Peter has proven himself so indispensable that he was promoted to the role of ‘Deputy Director’ of S.H.I.E.L.D. He began to work side by side with Bobbi Morse even more closely, going as far as to fill in for her whenever she was called away to Washington. Over the years Wisdom has amassed a great deal of access, influence and favors. He held a commission in S.T.R.I.K.E., S.H.I.E.L.D., the Queen’s Military, MI-5, M-6 and even had been named the liaison officer to S.W.O.R.D. So when the time came, when Bobbi Morse became the Vice-President of the United States of America, Peter Wisdom became the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

If that wasn’t bad enough on it’s own, less than a week in to his first month on the job, S.H.I.E.L.D. became a chartered world-wide force for good.
